Step Into Shakespeare - Durham World Heritage Site

STEP INTO SHAKESPEARE is a unique collaboration between historian Dr Amanda Herbert and mural artist Nocciola The Drawer, commissioned for Durham World Heritage Day on 10 April 2023. Amanda is an Assistant Professor in the Department of History and a member of the Institute of Medieval and Early Modern Studies at Durham University.

To celebrate the anniversary of Shakespeare's First Folio on the Durham UNESCO World Heritage Site, Dr. Herbert and Nocciola the Drawer were tasked with creating a traditional seaside 'peep through'or 'cut out' board celebrating the First Folio. The cutouts are rendered in Nocciola's unique style, are informed by real historical manuscripts and books, and are welcoming to people of all ages.
